iPhone 7 Plus may not get dual-lens camera afterall
Buying the iPhone 7 Plus might not be as big an upgrade as some Apple fans were hoping for this fall.
Apple has allegedly decided to scrap plans to include a dual-lens camera sensor on the back of the iPhone 7 Plus, according to the latest rumor from China that claims the tech isn’t quite ready.
The Apple rumor mill has been spitting out reports all year that the biggest feature of the Plus-size iPhone will be the addition of a dual-lens camera that brings stellar low-light performance and other tricks to take iPhone photos one step closer to DSLR quality. However, a recent post on Chinese microblogging site Weibo claims the feature won’t make the cut.
Citing sources at Foxconn, Weibo user Old Yao claims staffers were told recently that the dual-lens camera technology is still too immature to include.
Considering the plethora of dual-lens leaks that have sprung up in the last few months, including some production molds and early cases, we recommend taking this rumor with a giant grain of salt.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will likely be unveiled in September. Other new iPhone 7 features are expected to include a simplified rear shell design, no headphone jack, improved speakers, a faster processor and maybe even aSmart Connector.
