Facebook selfie helps Indian police nab murderer after seven years
It was a case of justice by selfie. An Indian man, who had been on the run for seven years after murdering his wife, finally got caught because of a Facebook selfie.
A resident of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, 45-year-old Mani had been absconding ever since he murdered his wife in 2009. He had shifted to the state capital Chennai, and adopted a new name, Kandaswamy.
While the police had no clue about his whereabouts and his parents were under the impression that he had died, Mani had been working in a restaurant for the last three years.
His cover was finally blown when one of his relatives recently spotted his photograph, taken in the restaurant where he worked. His family decided to investigate the matter further by visiting the restaurant, where the culprit ran away after spotting them. His relatives then informed the local police in Chennai, who finally arrested him.
