Madonna pays tribute to Prince, calls him a 'true visionary'

It feels like the whole world is paying tribute to Prince, who died Thursday morning. 

Now, Madonna is saying her piece. 

The pop icon posted a photo on Instagram of her and the Purple One, with a sad caption and a unicorn emoji: "He changed the world! A true visionary! What a loss. I'm devastated. This is not a love song."

Madonna and Prince had a rocky relationship over the years. They dated in 1985 and collaborated on music together, but things took a negative turn when she dissed him in a 1994 interview — calling him a "little troll" and retelling a story about one of their dinner dates. 

"He was just sipping tea, very daintily," Madonna said. "I have this theory about people who don't eat. They annoy me."

Prince later dissed his ex during a concert in 2007, saying, "I got so many hits y'all can't handle me. I got more hits than Madonna's got kids." 

The duo later made nice, with Madge attending a Prince concert in 2011, where he gave her a shoutout from the stage.
