The Call of Duty hype machine rolls forward with yet another tease that makes inventive use of Facebook and chatbots.
Earlier on Sunday, the official Call of Duty Instagram feed shared a brief video featuring snippets of the "Know Your Enemy" tease intercut with images of a young soldier — possibly named Lt. Reyes — wearing a "S.A.T.O." uniform. A subsequent tweet from the game's feed leads you to a Facebook chat with someone called "CODMessenger."
Send over some kind of greeting and you'll get a response from someone claiming to be Lt. Reyes. He's got a mission for you — some sort of alternate reality game — and he's willing to answer a few questions before he goes off to do soldier things.
Lt. Reyes has zero sense of humor and he was kind of rude about shaming my lack of politics knowhow, but I guess he gets a pass since he's losing ships and all that. The organizations he refers to in our chat are presumably the major players in the next Call of Duty's geopolitical landscape.
One other piece of the 12-part code CODMessenger refers to is revealed in the Instagram post referenced above. Morse code that plays in the trailer spells out "0 4 E," meaning the fourth letter in the code is an "E."

There's a very active megathread on the Call of Duty subreddit right now that's busily working through this mystery.
