Yahoo email outages hit UK after undersea cable fiber damage.
UPDATE: Sunday, April 10, 3:25 p.m. ET: A Yahoo spokesperson contacted to me and regarding the reported email outages and confirmed that the issue mostly impacted UK users.
"We are aware that Yahoo Mail is slow or inaccessible for some of our users, primarily in the UK," the Yahoo spokesperson told me in an emailed statement. "The issue is caused by an undersea fibre cable cut, owned by a third party. Our teams rerouted the traffic in order to minimize the impact until the issue is fully resolved. We are also closely monitoring the repair work, and the cable operator hopes to restore the cable in few days. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience as we certainly understand email is a critical service for our customers."
A large number of users claim they have not been able to access their Yahoo email accounts for most of Saturday.
The reports of problems appear to have begun early Saturday morning, with no public announcement regarding the status of its email service from Yahoo as of this writing.
However, many other users report no problem accessing their Yahoo email accounts. Upon further examination, it appears that a large number of Yahoo email users being locked out are located in the UK.
